Coromandel Gold....the sun came, the mud stayed.

Well Happy New Year to everyone. I spent the summer break down in the Coromandel and on the 30th of December my wife and I ventured to Ohuka Farm in Whitianga for the 4th annual Coromandel Gold music festival. The weather leading up to it was a tad wet, to say the least, so there were a lot of nervous people waiting to see what would happen at 4pm when the festival was to start.

Bring on Ladi 6, or shall we forever now call her the Sun Wrangler. The minute she started playing the rain went away and the sun shone all afternoon, followed by the full moon and the stars in the evening.

The line up for the day we were present was Ladi 6, Channel One Sound System (a UK based Jamaican reggae dub group), Fat Freddy's Drop, Shihad, Shapeshifter and The Upbeats.

Hello 2013.....and Hello Wind

It has been a ridiculously long time since I have posted a blog. Now that we are in a new year I have promised myself I will keep up with it far more regularly from now on. I have just returned from a short but lovely wedding at Romfords, also known as Tamaki Yacht Club, in Auckland. It is a special place to me as that is where my wife and I had our reception for our wedding in 2011. You need not venture more than 10 mitres to be greeted with a perfect photo location just below the club on rocks frequented by fisherman. It was rather windy however but that did not deter the wedding party. Here are few shots from today. Congratulations Blair and Shelley.

Welcome to Hollywood

Well earlier this evening Stephanie and I arrived in Los Angeles, California. It is my first time here since I was three so I am super excited. Stephanie has been before but is equally if not more excited. We have a busy 3 weeks getting all over the South West Coast, including a cruise to Mexico this Sunday for 7 nights. As soon as we got to the accommodation this evening Stephanie hit the pillow while I power walked up the Hollywood Hills to the Griffiths Observatory. This is the best vantage point to see the LA City Skyline. This is a location often used in films, one in particular was YES MAN, with Jim Carry.
